50 Acre Fire Burning In A Remote Area Of Siskiyou County

Crews are battling a 50 care fire in a rugged area of Siskiyou County. The fire was reported Monday afternoon and is burning about 7 miles southeast of Happy Camp near the East Fork of Elk Creek. The Forest Service has assigned 2 crews and Cal-Fire is using a helicopter to fight the fire that is burning in an area that has previously burned. After a dry winter, fire season in Siskiyou County and much of the state is nearly year round. Last week crews battled an 873 acre fire that was burning near Tulelake. Late last month Governor Newsom announced that the state is adding nearly 1400 firefighters in preparation for this summers fire season.
