Two Shot At Campsite Near Lake Shasta

A man arrested in the shooting of two people in the Lake Shasta area on Sunday has been identified as Silas Hesselberg, according to Sheriff Eric Magrini. The identities of the two victims are not available. At around 11:30AM there was a dispute at a campsite on Lower Salt Creek Road that ended with Hesselberg reportedly opening fire on a group of visitors. One of the victims was shot once and was treated at the hospital and released. The other victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including in the head, and had to undergo surgery. That person’s condition is not available. Hesselberg was detained at gunpoint by a witness until the arrival of sheriff’s deputies.
