Council Approves Federal Funds Allocated For COVID Relief

There were just three short items on the Redding City Council regular agenda Tuesday night for a meeting that only lasted 20 minutes. In the first item the council approved changes to the Housing and Urban Development Action Plan. Over $779,000 in federal funds will be allocated to assist businesses and provide housing assistance to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Item two was a resolution to help Redding Electric Utility come into compliance with the California Energy Commission by signing more long-term contracts with suppliers and streamlining access to documents for the public and state officials.

Finally, the council approved new 2.5 year contracts with the police chief and fire chief and other unrepresented employees. Both contracts raise the city’s contribution to the Cal-PERS Retirement System by 15 percent and guarantee holiday pay and a uniform allowance.
