Burn Season Extended, Permits Required Starting May 1st

Fire season is on its way, according to Cal-Fire officials, who will ban all pile burning below an elevation of one thousand feet starting on Monday. Burning is being allowed for two extra days to give residents a chance to get rid of vegetation through the weekend. A permit is by Cal-Fire. It’s free, but it involves watching a short video to understand the rules. Permits must be acquired online at burnpermit.fire.ca.gov. Residents need to contact their local fire department to determine what the restrictions and requirements are prior to burning. City of Redding and Buckeye residents are also getting the two extra days to burn. A lot of information on fire prevention is available at readyforwildfire.org.
