COVID-19 Case Rate Drops In Shasta County, 4 More Deaths Reported

Four Shasta County women died of COVID-19 on Sunday and Monday, for a total of 224. One was in her 70s and the other 3 were over age 89. Another 58 people tested positive and 426 tested negative. There have been 11,994 cases so far. An estimated 163 people have the virus right now, 11 people are hospitalized and 1 is in intensive care.

Trinity County is breathing easy, having moved into the yellow tier. Shasta County remains in the red, though some improvement has been seen. The adjusted case rate has decreased from 10.2 to 7.5 daily cases per 100,000 residents.

Public health says serious side affects from any of the vaccines are extremely rare, but Shasta County has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the state. Tehama County has reported 5,538 cases and 58 deaths.
There have been 399 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
2,134 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 21 deaths.
Butte County has reported 182 deaths among their 11,680 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,100 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,593 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,895 cases and 39 deaths.
Modoc County has had 493 cases and 4 deaths.

The Transportation Security Administration has extended a requirement that passengers on planes, trains and buses wear face masks through September 13th.

About 8% of Americans who have received one dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have not returned for their second shot.
