Crews Fight Several Weekend Fires Under Red Flag Conditions

Evacuations were ordered for a fire in the Happy Valley area on Friday afternoon. The fire burned a total of about two acres off of Lassen Avenue, south of Olinda Road and west of Happy Valley Road. Cal-Fire reported a barn and a couple of other outbuildings were destroyed by the fire. One person was transported from the scene with burn injuries. The cause is under investigation, though a riding lawn mower is suspected.

A fire Friday morning underneath the South Bonneyview Bridge was likely caused by homeless people with a cooking fire. South Bonneyview Road was closed briefly, but Redding Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and the road reopened within minutes.
