A fire broke out Thursday afternoon in East Redding. At around 3:30PM, the fire was burning in a field off Alta Mesa Drive just south of Hartnell. It destroyed a fence, some vehicles in a backyard, and about a quarter acre of trees and dry grass. The cause is under investigation.
