Children As Young As 12 Now Eligible For Vaccine In Shasta County

Shasta County’s covid death toll remains at 226. Another 26 cases have been confirmed, as well as 896 negative tests. There have been 12,152 cases so far. An estimated 171 people have the virus right now, 11 people are hospitalized and 4 are in intensive care.

 

COVID-19 cases have increased substantially in children, who represented about 3% of cases a year ago and 22% now. Vaccine is now available in Shasta County for children as young as 12. Several clinics for children are planned for next week. For adults, there’s a Moderna and Johnson & Johnson clinic at Happy Valley Elementary Saturday from 10AM to 4PM. Vaccines are readily available and free of charge for everyone. They’re about 90% effective and no vaccinated person in Shasta County has died from COVID-19, or from the vaccine. Tehama County has reported 5,590 cases and 59 deaths.
There have been 402 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
2,245 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 24 deaths.
Butte County has reported 182 deaths among their 11,843 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,113 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,593 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 4,046 cases and 41 deaths.
Modoc County has had 501 cases and 4 deaths.
