A 42-year-old Redding man is accused of intentionally starting a series of fires near the Sacramento River Trail Sunday. At around 10AM, Redding Fire Department was called to the end of Overhill Drive to a wooded area about halfway between Shasta High School and the Sacramento River. They found 5 fires that had been extinguished in the dry vegetation. Terry Sargent was nearby and reportedly admitted to starting the fires. He was booked into jail for arson.
