Big Rig Crash Slows Traffic On Highway 299 Near Oak Bottom

A tractor-trailer rig has crashed at Whiskeytown Lake, and recovery had to wait until Tuesday morning. Just after 9PM Monday night the truck and trailer slid off the side of the hill at the scales off Highway 299 near Oak Bottom. Both the truck and the trailer are on their sides on a 30 degree embankment. The trailer is loaded with 75,000 pounds of peat moss. The CHP says about 10 gallons of diesel fuel spilled. Heavy duty tow trucks will be there Tuesday morning to pull the whole mess back up the hill. The driver was uninjured.
