Update: Woman Leads Officers On Pursuit In Stolen Vehicle

A woman in a stolen car led Redding Police on a slow-motion pursuit Wednesday morning. At 2:50AM, Jeremy Stowe reported that a woman had stolen his Toyota Corolla from the Motel 6 on Hilltop Drive, and tried to run him over as she fled. At 5:39AM someone reported seeing the car on Bodenhamer near Rollingview. Officers were on scene quickly and attempted a traffic stop, but ended up following the car at speeds of between 5 and 30 miles an hour onto Churn Creek Road, through the Quail Ridge Neighborhood, then up and down Churn Creek Road a few times. At College View drive she turned toward Bethel Church, but then made a U-turn and went back to Churn Creek. Spike strips were set out at various locations, but she avoided them. She rammed a patrol vehicle and tried to run over an officer. Redding Police backed off as a CHP helicopter took over monitoring the car until she turned into the Shasta Hills Neighborhood, where officers were finally able to box her in and the Toyota was pushed into a fence. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Amy Anderson, refused to get out of the car. She was taken into custody with the use of a beanbag round, a Taser and a K9. After a hospital visit, Anderson was booked into jail on multiple charges.
