Family Of Man Who Died While In Custody Plan Rally At Lake Redding Park

The family and friends of a man who died in Shasta County Jail are holding a rally and silent march Tuesday to bring attention to the case. 31-year-old John Adena died in custody on September 23rd of 2019 following his arrest the previous month. The former firefighter was one of three inmates who died in the jail that month. A wrongful death lawsuit filed in March claims that the autopsy report shows that Adena died as a result of being beaten by correctional deputies while handcuffed. The autopsy results were not released until November of last year, and the cause of death was officially inconclusive. On Tuesday at 5PM the family will rally supporters at the gazebo in Lake Redding park before marching to the jail and back.
