Control lines on the Salt Fire are holding well, according to the Forest Service. The Salt Fire has burned about 12,650 acres, according to the latest update. Containment is at 45%. Forest Service Fire Behavior Analyst Dennis Burns said Thursday night that despite the extreme heat, the fight is going well. 41 buildings, including at least 27 homes, have been confirmed destroyed in the Salt Fire. Many Salt Fire evacuation orders have been lifted, including Gregory Creek Road and roads accessed off of Gregory Creek Road, as well as Solus, Wells and Lundgren Mountain. The Evacuation WARNINGS for Delta School Road, Delta Road, and all of Lakehead west and east of I-5 were lifted Friday morning. All other evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect.
Many of these areas are still under evacuation warning, so residents should be prepared. Returning evacuees who need electricity can call PG&E, who will either restore their connection to the grid or provide them with a generator. Evacuation orders remain in effect for Fenders Ferry Road from I-5 to 10 miles in, Gilman Road from I-5 to Old Mill Road, Tom’s Head, Antler’s View and Old Mill Road.
