CHP: Driver Killed After Pickup Crashes In Remote Area Of Trinity County

Two men from Stockton crashed in a remote area of Trinity County Friday afternoon, and the driver died. They were on Corral Bottom Road north of Olsen Creek Road rounding a sweeping right turn when their Ford pickup truck went across the opposing lane and off the road. It careened down a hill and the left side smashed into a tree, then the truck hit another tree head-on before coming to rest. The passenger, 25-year-old Marcos Rios, climbed out of the wreckage and started walking. About 5 hours later he finally was able to get a signal on his cell phone and called 9-1-1. When medics arrived the 32-year-old driver was dead. The CHP suspects he was driving under the influence.
