Crews Extinguish Early Morning Fire In The Henderson Open Space

A fire was extinguished by Redding Fire Department early Wednesday morning in an area that’s frequently populated by homeless people. At 3:15AM an engine was sent for a smoke check in the Henderson Open Space by the Sacramento River. Firefighters found about a half acre burning in the thick brush and trees, and they called for additional resources. Forward progress on the fire was stopped at around one acre at 3:45AM. Crews remained on scene for a few hours to mop up and check for hot spots in the heavy vegetation. The cause is under investigation.
