A fire that started in the Feather River Canyon in Butte County Tuesday near where the Camp Fire was sparked in 2018 is raging as it spreads into Plumas County. Located in the Jarbo Gap area and burning in very heavy vegetation with difficult access, the Dixie Fire was estimated at 60 acres Tuesday night, and it’s now grown to more than 2,250 acres. The fire got a big jump against containment efforts Tuesday when air resources had to be grounded because a drone was spotted in the area. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation warning for Pulga and the East Concow area on Wednesday morning. The fire is reported to be burning away from populated areas. There is zero containment on the fire.
Meanwhile, a fire to the south in the Plumas National Forest continues to expand. The Sugar Fire and Dotta Fire make up the Beckwourth Complex. They were both sparked by lightning. Acreage is now about 100,500 with 68% containment.
