A sobriety checkpoint will be conducted by Redding Police Friday evening between the hours of 6PM and 11PM. The location is not publicly disclosed, but it will be somewhere within Redding city limits at a location with a history of DUI crashes and arrests. Officers assigned to the checkpoint are trained to quickly detect impairment by alcohol or drugs, including legal drugs like pharmaceuticals and cannabis. The average overall cost of a DUI is $13,500 plus a suspended license.
