Dixie Fire Grows To Nearly 8,000 Acres

A fire that started in the Feather River Canyon in Butte County Tuesday near where the Camp Fire was sparked in 2018 is continuing to expand. Located in the Jarbo Gap area and burning in very heavy vegetation with difficult access, the Dixie Fire has now grown to around 7,950 acres with just 7% containment. One injury has been reported. The fire was near containment Tuesday when air resources had to be grounded because a drone was spotted in the area. It then jumped retardant lines and raged out of control. The fire is burning mostly away from populated areas.

Meanwhile, a fire to the south in the Plumas National Forest continues to expand. The Sugar Fire and Dotta Fire make up the Beckwourth Complex. They were both sparked by lightning. The size is now 105,000 acres with 68% containment.
