Tehama County Begins Chronic Offender Program

Tehama County is starting a program that’s been working for Shasta County to keep the most frequently arrested people in jail until they can get them into a courtroom. The Chronic Offender Program targets repeat offenders who commit crimes and then fail to appear in court. 3 beds will be on reserve in Tehama County Jail, saved especially for those designated as chronic offenders. Although the program can prevent the revolving door effect that’s sometimes abused by arrestees, it still can’t prevent them from walking if they post bail.
