Crews Quickly Douse Roadside Fire That Spread To 2 Acres

Cal-Fire crews stopped a fire quickly with an aggressive response near Shingletown Thursday afternoon. The fire was on the side of Highway 44 near Ponderosa Way, just up the road from Black Butte School. The first arriving engine crew at 4:45PM reported a fully involved RV with flames spreading to about an acre of vegetation. Multiple engines, water tenders and hand crews were dispatched, as well as aircraft. A water-dropping helicopter was used to extinguish spot fires. Just after 5 O’clock the fire was contained to about two acres.
