RPD: Intoxicated Woman Arrested For Animal Cruelty

A woman was arrested by Redding Police Wednesday after witnesses reported her abusing a dog. A responding officer spoke with 29-year-old Jennifer Raeann Cooper in front of the Downtown Safeway, and he believed she was intoxicated and told her not to leave. She then took off running into Cypress Avenue traffic while dragging the dog by a leash. When the officer caught up to her, she flailed frantically as she tried to break away from his grasp. Cooper was booked into jail for public intoxication, resisting arrest and animal abuse. The dog was taken by animal control.
