Police Seek Suspects After Attempted Carjacking

Jamie and Paul had better watch their backs. Those are the names used by a couple of bungling attempted robbery and carjacking suspects. Just before 9 O’clock Monday night at the Shopko parking lot on Lake Boulevard a woman took advantage of the kindness of Shaylyn McBroom, who agreed to give her a ride. After the woman got in the car she punched Shaylyn in the face and tried to take her purse. As the tug-of-war over the purse continued a man showed up and also attempted to get the purse away from Shaylyn. The victim’s screams caught the attention of other people in the parking lot, several of whom started approaching the car. The pair of thieves then fled. They took Shaylyn’s keys with them but they were found by a witness nearby. The woman, who the man called “Jamie”, is white, in her late-20s or early-30s, blonde, about 5-foot-2 and 110 pounds. She was wearing a tank top and shorts. The man, who Jamie called “Paul”, is white, in his late 20s, about 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds. He was wearing a black ball cap and red tee shirt. They may have left in a gold colored sedan.
