Man Rescued After Falling While Skiing At Lake Shasta

CPR had to be performed on a man who became paralyzed after he fell while water skiing on the McCoud Arm of Shasta Lake.  56-year-old William Heiney of Tule Lake was located north of Ycotti Cove just after 6PM. When deputies arrived family members were already pulled Heiney from the water and were performing CPR on the boat. Heiney apparently lost his balance while skiing and fell, crossing the wake. He could not lift his head out of the water, becoming paralyzed. His life jacket kept him afloat. After several minutes he began to breathe on his own. Heiney was taken to Holiday Harbor on a Sheriff’s boat and than taken to Mercy Medical Center.
