K-9 Used To Apprehend Domestic Violence Suspect

A quiet fishing area saw quite a bit of excitement Thursday after a domestic violence incident became very ugly. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of Balls Ferry and Ash Creek Roads just after 3PM when someone called 911 to report a female being pushed into a car against her will. While they were en route another caller said they were at the Balls Ferry Fishing Resort and the woman was being dragged by her hair into a nearby field. When officers arrived, they located the car on Gover Road near the Zamora Sod Farm. They began following the car as they waited for other units to arrive. The driver, Ventura Karl Rodriquez pulled over on his own as deputies parked behind him. Rodiguez apparently exited the vehicle and became very aggressive toward officers. Due to the nature of his behavior a K-9 “Jax” was deployed and Rodgiquez was subdued. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, and then to jail for charges including domestic violence, false imprisonment, and assault of a peace officer. The female, whose name is being withheld, provided a statement. She did not require medical treatment.
