Man Faces Life In Prison After Stabbing K-9

A Mexican citizen has been handed a federal indictment accusing him of stabbing a Forest Service K-9 while defending a large Trinity County marijuana garden. 34-year-old Francisco Barcellos-Ramirez was arrested July 21st during a raid of a large cultivation site in a remote area of federal land involving Forest Service agents and Trinity County deputies. As some of the 1600 marijuana plants were being eradicated, Ramirez allegedly attacked a K-9 named “Ice” with a knife. The dog suffered a stab wound to his chest and two cuts to his face. He was flown out by a CHP helicopter to a Redding area animal hospital, where he underwent surgery and he’s now recovering. If convicted Ramirez could face a sentence of up to life in federal prison and a fine of more than 10 Million Dollars.
