10 Month Investigation Links 5 To Violent Crime Spree

Redding Police investigators have linked several men to a handful of violent felonies committed last year. On October 2nd of last year two men arrived at the Willamette Street home of Brennan Tinsley in Shasta Lake and one of them came to the door. Tinsley said when he opened the door he saw the man had a semi-automatic pistol in his hand so he grabbed the gun and pushed it to the side. A round hit the front door as the two struggled for the weapon. Tinsley was outnumbered when the other man got out of the car but Tinsley’s friends showed up and the two suspects fled. The sheriff’s office said at the time that they might have been there to steal marijuana. Two days later the body of 61-year-old Bradley Stephen Yoder was found at his house on Shasta View Drive. He had been murdered. On October 25th a home invasion robbery was done in the town of Live Oak in Sutter County. The next day armed robbers hit the Bare Roots Hydroponics store on East Cypress Avenue. They claimed to be DEA Agents and ordered everybody onto the floor. One man was seriously assaulted and the robbers stole items that could be used for marijuana cultivation along with everybody’s wallets, and the money out of the cash register and the safe. 4 days later Felix Ruben Ayala and Jose Orlando Luna were arrested at a home on Scharsch Meadow Lane in the Shingletown area and charged with the Bare Roots robbery. After a ten month investigation police have linked all the other crimes to Ayala and Luna, as well as to Felix “Phil” Ayala and Sergio Martinez, both from the Bronx in New York, and Elioenaid Rivera of Anderson. 3 of the men were arraigned Tuesday and the others are being extradited. Investigators say there are multiple other crimes in Shasta County that were committed by the same group, and they believe other suspects are involved.
