It seems like a scam has been dreamed up for just about every segment of society. Now it’s bars and liquor stores. Retailers have been getting calls from someone claiming to be an agent with the State Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The caller demands payment for violations of selling alcohol to minors. In some cases the caller tells the target to make payment via electronic transfer. The department wants retailers to know that they don’t do business that way and if there’s ever any question, retailers should call their local ABC contact.
