Duo Arrested After Officer Thwarts Robbery Attempt

An armed robbery of an East Redding convenience store was stopped before it began, according to Redding Police. Shortly after 2 O’clock Thursday somebody reported suspicions about a person in a clown mask walking down Alta Mesa Drive. When an officer arrived he saw the masked man and another man approaching Hartnell Avenue. As he spoke with 34-year-old Sarn Choy Saechao, the masked man continued walking to the Circle-K convenience store. The officer went into the store to contact him, but he was no longer wearing the mask. He apparently gave a false name but was later identified as 32-year-old Daniel Rodriguez, who had multiple warrants. He was searched and allegedly had a small amount of Methamphetamine. He was detained while the officer searched inside the store where Rodriguez had been. The clown mask was found stashed, and with it was a loaded pistol. Both men were booked into jail on several charges.
