Good Samaritans Hold Alleged Carjacker

A Redding man who attempted to carjack a man at Kids Kingdom was detained by several good Samaritans until police arrived, according to Redding Police. Officers were called at about 10:30AM Tuesday to Enterprise Park and found 37-year-old Jayson Elliot See being detained by several people. The witnesses’s told officers that see had approached 66-year-old Charles Rodgers who was sitting in his Dodge pickup. See apparently ordered Rodgers to give him a ride. Rodgers refused and see attempted to get into the passenger side of the truck, but the door was locked. Rodgers got out of the pickup and see pushed him aside and jumped into the drivers seat and tried to start the pickup. 23-year-old Jaimeson Hamada and 22-year-old Sheldon Baker saw the commotion and came to assist Rodgers. Police say that while Rodgers was trying to get see out of the vehicle, see grabbed a wooden tool from the back of the truck and struck Rodgers in the head. 44-year-old Marty Gentles also saw the attempted car jacking and came to help the others. Gentles said that as he was approaching the truck he saw see attempt to stab Rodgers with two ink pins that he had found inside the truck. See tried to run and the 3 good Samaritans tackled him and held him until police arrived. See was arrested and booked into jail. Rodgers was treated at the scene for a contusion to his head.
