Redding Council To Take Up Pot, Proposed Hike In Water Rates

The Redding City Council will take up an urgency ordinance Tuesday night which would temporarily prohibit the outdoor cultivation of marijuana. It would also restrict indoor cultivation to six plants, and restrict manufacture, processing, lab testing, storage, and retail sale and delivery of the plants for medical use within the City of Redding. The ordinance would go into effect immediately and is in response to the passage of Proposition 64 which would allow the recreational use of marijuana in California.

The council will also get the results of the protest ballot tabulations regarding proposed rate increases in water, sewage, and solid waste collections. If there is not a majority of protest votes, the council is free to adopt the staffs recommendation for the increases.
