Tennessee Man Killed In Crash On I-5 In Red Bluff

A 79-year-old man from Nashville, Tennessee was killed in a wrong-way head-on crash near Red Bluff early Saturday morning. At 4:20AM the man was driving a Nissan Juke southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway north of Adobe Road when he crashed into the Dibble Creek bridge abutment. The small SUV then careened into the lanes and collided with a Toyota 4Runner driven by Patrick Moran of Woodland. He and his 83-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries when the 4Runner was knocked down an embankment. The impact bounced the juke back into a Ford F-250 pickup driven by 41-year-old Robert Lankford Jr. of Redding. He suffered minor injuries and was arrested for drunk driving, though the CHP says he was not responsible in the collision. The name of the dead man has not been released.
