A Burney man has decided to plead guilty to raping a young girl who lived with him and getting her pregnant. The baby was born in October of 2014 when the mother was 14-years-old. She was just 13-years-old when the baby was conceived. That prompted the sheriff’s office to launch an investigation. The girl was uncooperative and refused to tell detectives who had fathered her baby. A DNA analysis was ordered and the results came back in June of last year, showing strong evidence that the baby’s father is 35-year-old Adam Goad. The mother and baby, who were still living in Burney with goad, were taken into protective custody. After hearing of the DNA test results, both the girl and Goad reportedly confirmed the suspected paternity. Goad entered a guilty plea Wednesday to one count of forcible rape with a special allegation of inflicting harm on a victim under the age of 14. In March Goad will be formally sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. California has a one-strike law for sex offenders that allows for a life sentence in certain cases. If he’s ever released, Goad will have to register as a sex offender.
