A car mysteriously went up in flames at the eastern edge of Redding. At around 11AM Friday morning firefighters were called to Frazier Road, a residential dirt road off of Abernathy. They found a Ford Taurus wagon fully engulfed in flames and they extinguished it. Apparently nobody was home at the house where the car was parked, so it’s not known how it may have started. Some neighbors who reported the fire said they heard explosions but a Cal-Fire official on scene said that may have just been the sound of the tires popping.
