Heavy Rain Causes Roof To Collapse On Union Building

Union labor will undoubtedly be used to repair a building on Locust Street in Redding. The roof caved in over the weekend at the building that houses several labor unions, including the Electrical Workers, the Plumbers and Pipefitters, the Cement and Building Trades Council and the Central Labor Council. It also holds the offices of the Shasta County Democratic Party. The structure has a flat roof with a low wall around it. Drains that were supposed to keep the water off the roof were apparently clogged and when it became deep enough the weight was too much for the roof to handle and it sent a tsunami rushing through the building.
