An intensive fire caused major damage to a house west of Redding overnight. It was reported around 11:20PM on Scruffy Drive, which is off of Swasey Drive. The four people who lived there escaped the house and were not injured. Much of the house was destroyed. The cause is still under investigation, according to Cal-Fire.
Fire wrecked the garage of a house in Palo Cedro Monday, but firefighters saved the main part of the house. Cal-Fire and Shasta County Fire were assisted by Millville Firefighters as they responded at around 3:15PM to the house on Wesley Drive near Foothill High School. The garage was completely destroyed, with damage estimated at $100,000. It’s believed to have started from improperly discarded fireplace ashes. The residents were home at the time but nobody was hurt.
