Child Taken From Anderson Homeless Camp

Anderson Police took a 4-year-old homeless child from the parents because of the deplorable conditions of their camp. Officers found the family on a tip from Shasta Support Services, a group of community volunteers that cleans out homeless camps. Hidden deep in the brush of one of Anderson’s greenbelts, a cold, wet and filthy encampment was found. Inside the tent, where a campfire was burning, the 4-year-old was with both parents sharing bedding that officers say was littered with broken glass pipes. The child was handed over by police to county C.P.S. The case will be submitted to the D.A.’s Office for child abuse and neglect. The parents were told of county assistance they could seek on their own.
