A trio of burglaries led to five arrests in Burney, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. A 5 O’clock Sunday morning, deputies checking on an alarm found a break-in on Marquette Street, then followed footprints in the snow to a house on Ash Avenue that also had been broken into. A third burglary was then reported on Fir Street. Over the last few days deputies followed leads to Steven Scott, Forrest Berlt and Jake Gemmill. They were arrested for the burglaries and 2 others were arrested on warrants. Deputies returned about $3000 worth of goods to the owners.
