Suspect Shot By Police Arrested With BB Gun

Patrick Amen has had a difficult relationship with guns. In July of last year Redding Police responding to a report of vandalism off East Cypress Avenue found the 24-year-old man in a field behind Lawncrest Cemetery. Amen had a BB gun that looked like a real Beretta and when he pointed it at officers he was shot. He quickly recovered and spent about 4 months in jail before being released on felony probation. In December he violated his probation by vandalizing his grandmother’s house. On January 13th he violated it again with public intoxication and resisting arrest. He was placed on this week’s list of Shasta County’s Most Wanted and Saturday RPD Officers went and got him. When he was arrested his backpack was searched and officers found another BB gun that looked like a real handgun. He also had a box of 3-80 ammunition, some of which he had jammed into the BB gun. He apparently told officers that he thought the gun was real and that he would use it to shoot police or anyone else who threatened him. He’s being held in jail until he appears in court.
