Shasta County Superintendent Stepping Down In June

The chief of Shasta County schools is leaving his job. Superintendent Tom Armelino will step down June 30th with a year-and-a-half remaining in his 4 year term. Board members have a lot of good things to say about Armelino, not just his leadership abilities but his skills at pulling strings to influence decisions made in Sacramento. First elected to the post in 2006, Armelino has run unopposed in the last 3 elections. He’s leaving to accept a job as the Executive Director of the National Association of School Superintendents.
