Update: Authorities ID 2nd Victim Of Botched Home Invasion

The name has been released of the other dead man from Monday morning’s botched home invasion west of Corning. Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputies were called just after 10AM for shots fired at a home at the west end of Rancho Tehama Road. Moises Salgado Farias was dead in the front yard, having apparently been shot by someone from inside the house. Witnesses said there had been an attempted home invasion that was repelled by the armed homeowner. That homeowner fled after the gunfight and has not been located. There were two other robbery suspects in a white pickup who showed up at a Chevron station on Solano Street in Corning. The passenger, now identified as 33-year-old Valente Chavez Paniagua, stumbled into the store and collapsed with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The driver of the truck, believed to be 23-year-old Alfonso Antonio Vargas-Tapia, took off running from the gas station and he’s still at large. He may be armed with a handgun, and also may have a gunshot wound. His pickup was found by Corning Police Thursday. The wanted poster is on our Facebook page. The sheriff’s office hasn’t said what the robbers were after, only that there were unspecified valuables in the home.
