Storms Continue To Damage North State

Stormy weather continues to drench the North State, which has exceeded it’s water capacity after overcoming the other extreme of a multi-year drought. Plenty more flooding is expected as the next systems move in from the Pacific. The Woodson Bridge in Corning was closed at 7:30PM Tuesday night when the Sacramento River level overcame the road. The bridge was reopened around 8:15AM Wednesday. Trailer and RV parks along the river from Redding to Balls Ferry to Red Bluff and into Glenn County are getting repeatedly submerged with each surge of storm water as the Bureau of Reclamation continues to fluctuate releases from Keswick Dam. Major repairs are needed on the Oroville Dam spillway after a huge hole developed in it Tuesday. A massive flow of 55,000 cubic feet per second was being released down the spillway when the hole developed and quickly grew. Flows have been stopped as engineers assess how to repair it. Officials say there’s no damage to the dam itself and the public is not in danger.
