Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko announced Friday afternoon that the Sacramento River has been closed to recreational use. The sheriff cited the high flows expected this weekend, and said the closure is necessary for public safety. Flows are expected to increase to 60,000 CFS Saturday and to about 70,000 CFS on Sunday. Bosenko says the order will be rescinded once its safe. Anyone caught in violation of the order is subject to citation or arrest.
