Supervisors May Appoint New District Attorney

On Wednesday the Shasta County Board of Supervisors will consider appointing a district attorney. Steve Carlton retired with 2 years left before the D.A. appears on the ballot again. There are 7 applicants vying to complete the term. 3 are Deputy District Attorneys: Stephanie Bridgett, Ben Hanna and Brandon Storment. Bridgett has been serving as the acting D.A. and has the endorsement of Carlton and many of her colleagues, including Sheriff Tom Bosenko and retired Sheriff Jim Pope. The other candidates are: retired prosecutor Donna Daly, and private attorneys Anthony Khoury, John Kucera and Portasha Stallworth. The interviews will be done in open session starting at 9AM Wednesday morning. The board may offer the job to one of them on the spot.
