Murderer Sentenced To Life In Prison

A 63-year-old Redding man has been given a life sentence for the murder of his nephew. Last month Ralf Reuschel was found guilty of first degree murder by a Shasta County jury. The body of 33-year-old Timothy Arron Mitchell was discovered in May of last year in an old shallow mining pit near French Gulch. He had arrived in Redding April 24th and stayed with Reuschel and his wife at the Premier RV resort on North Boulder Drive in Redding. Five days later Reuschel and Mitchell had an argument at the RV park that ended when Reuschel shot Mitchell dead. Mitchell’s body was kept in the RV for several days before Reuschel hauled his nephew out to French Gulch to dump him. Reuschel’s defense filed a motion for a new trial and another to have the conviction reduced to 2nd degree murder. Both motions were denied and Reuschel was sentenced Monday to 50 years to life in prison.
