Shasta County has a new district attorney. Stephanie Bridgett is the first woman ever to hold the position. Steve Carlton retired with 2 years left before the D.A. appears on the ballot again. The Shasta County Board of Supervisors held a special session Wednesday morning and considered 7 applicants for the appointment. Bridgett has been serving as the acting D.A. and had the endorsement of Carlton and many of her colleagues, including Sheriff Tom Bosenko and retired Sheriff Jim Pope.
