Men Arrested After Allegedly Firing Zipguns

Two men have been arrested at a Cottonwood home after firing shots. Friday afternoon a report of shots fired sent Tehama County Deputies to a house on Tehama Dam Road in Cottonwood. They contacted the homeowner, 39-year-old George Kokolios, and his friend, 39-year-old Roy Croft. Kokolios had a 45 caliber handgun in a hip holster and the men had been shooting zipguns, which are homemade weapons that typically use rubber bands to force a firing pin into a bullet. The zip guns the Cottonwood men used were loaded with shotgun shells. Both men have been previously convicted of felonies so they’re prohibited from having any type of guns. The home was searched and deputies reported finding 4 zip guns and lots of ammunition. The weaponry was confiscated and both Kokolios and Croft were booked into jail.
