Man Faces Life In Prison For Torturing Woman

A Yreka resident will probably spend the rest of his life in prison for torturing a woman, according to the Siskiyou Daily News. Dean Knight held a 27-year-old woman captive in a house in Yreka for three days in 2013, beating her with various objects, including pieces of wood and a fire poker. He had been released on parole from prison just a few days before the torture started. He repeatedly threatened to kill the victim and inflicted severe injuries, including numerous broken bones and massive bruising. He told the woman he would keep her and continue torturing her for a year. A former girlfriend testified that knight was angry with the woman for trying to convince the girlfriend to leave him. Knight’s trial lasted for ten days in August and the jury only deliberated for about an hour before finding him guilty on all charges.  Knight has been sentenced to a determinate sentence of 15 years 8 months in prison plus an indeterminate sentence of 14 years to life. If he ever gets out of prison on parole, it won’t be until at least 2042.
