A county-owned building was gutted by fire early Saturday morning. The blaze broke out at around 4:30AM across the street from the old juvenile hall on Breslauer Way. The building was vacant, but was part of the Shasta County government campus. It once was home to the county veterans service office. It may have been occupied by homeless people. With windows broken out the fire was well vented and quickly destroyed the building’s interior. The cause is undetermined.
