Driver Injured After Cement Truck Overturns

An overturned cement truck presented a challenge on Highway 3 Monday. A little before 6:30AM the fully loaded 3 axle cement mixer tipped over about 10 miles south of Douglas City on the road to Hayfork. The driver suffered major injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital in Redding. Meanwhile the cement company, tow truck drivers and the CHP tried to figure out how to upright the truck. It was blocking the northbound side of the highway and one-way traffic control was in effect. With 28,000 pounds of cement set up inside the drum, it took two heavy duty tow trucks to get the truck upright. The roadway was finally cleared about 8-and-a-half hours after the crash.
