A Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured in a crash with an allegedly drunk driver Saturday afternoon. At around 2:30PM the unnamed deputy was on-duty and driving a marked Ford Explorer patrol vehicle on his way to an emergency call. He was southbound on Happy Valley Road near Triple S Drive when 22-year-old Giovani Sanchez came the other way in a Dodge pickup and allegedly crossed over the double yellow line. The two collided head-on. The deputy suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized. Sanchez was treated for minor injuries and then booked into jail for felony drunk driving causing injury.
